| Getting There | By Car:- Although there are numerous picturesque routes to choose from, the shortest and most comfortable drive is straight along the Hume Freeway. Simply set the cruise control at 110 km and enjoy the scenery as you travel along this well maintained major arterial route. By Rail & Bus:- (Intrastate) If you would rather not drive, rail services from Melbourne are offered three times daily by V-Line (2.48 hours) and twice daily by CountryLink XPT (2.17 hours). A Bus service is also offered twice daily by Firefly Express (3.00 hours). There are also buses travelling to and from Bright, Beechworth, Chiltern, Corowa, Glenrowan, Mulwala and Shepparton. |

Wangaratta is centrally located to world class wineries, gourmet foods, spectacular mountains, valleys, rivers and streams. The region also boasts the beginning of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail and Great Alpine Road and is therefore a popular cycling destination. Immerse yourself into the historic links to Ned Kelly and the Gold Rush or take up a possie on one or more rivers or streams and try your luck at fishing. Just a couple of hours to Falls Creek makes Wangaratta a great stop over before the last leg to the mountain. |
