The Savannah Way traverses the heart of the Gulf, linking Karumba with Cairns, Darwin and further on to Broome in Western Australia. The Matilda Way runs north from central Queensland, ending at the water's edge at Karumba Point. Rex Airline fly's into Normanton with local hire car service, taxi or transfers available. |

| Things To Do | Fishing Charters. Barramundi fishing: Seasonal Feburary to October Carpentaria Barra owned by Local Fishing guide Gavin (Groover) New specialising in barramundi, maximum 3 persons. Fishing charters in Karumba, Kerry D, do half and full day charters, all bait and fishing gear supplied. Half day - morning tea, full day – lunch included on their fully shaded deck, with cold refreshments. Subject to availability. Seabreeze Point Store, mini supermarket also supply fishing tackle, bait, ice and takeaway. Karumba Point Fishing locally owned fish market. Stocking fresh gulf seafood, bait, ice and takeaway. Croc & Crab Outback by the sea adventure, travel 45k along the Norman River in Croc & Crabs 10m fully shaded vessel. Half day tours include Live crab pot lifting, Live crab handling and tying, croc spotting and bird watching. Also Sunset cruise avaliable. Enjoy a peaceful & relaxing cruise, on board the spacious vessel. While enjoying fresh Gulf Prawns, tropical fruit platter and refreshments. Seasonal April to end September Explore the unique and amazing outback, with an abundance of wildlife, spectacular sunsets over the Gulf of Carpentaria and magnificent seafood. The changing and diverse plains across the Savannah Way to Karumba give you a sense of calm and space. Through the winter months the plains are dry and open. With the monsoon season comes the rain which brings the outback to life, beautiful wild flowers, ponds along road side covered in lilies and an ambundance of birds. The Barramundi Discovery Centre Learn about the unique strain of Barramundi in the Gulf, Feed brood stock up to 25kg. Sunday markets Stroll amongst the many stores offering quality made goods, handcrafts, jewellery, produce and other items. (Seasonal) Karumba Golf club Experience playing golf in the outback with sand greens and beautiful green fairways with recent irrigation system. The Sunset Tavern is a great spot to enjoy Karumba Point's famous sunsets with a meal and a few beers after a good day's fishing. Ash's across the road has great snacks and takeaways, plenty of bait, ice and fishing supplies. Boat hire, charters and cruises are available to explore Karumba's endless water wonderland. The surrounding wetlands are the habitat for many bird species including Brolgas, Sarus Cranes, Crimson Chats and migratory birds. The Gulflander …a grand old railmotor will take you on a journey of discovery. The Gulflander rolls along an historic track running right through the heart of the Gulf Country .Scheduled trips include Billy Tea & Damper Normanton to Critters Camp.
