About UsThe Mackellar Motel is located in the heart of the Gunnedah CBD, directly across the road from the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within comfortable walking distance. The Mackellar Motel has 30 well-appointed four star suites with soft, comfortable pillow tops on all beds. All suites are larger than average and tastefully decorated with modern furnishings. They include a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, fridge and comprehensive minibar. Check-in Instructions | Reception is open from 7:00am until 7.00pm and on call thereafter. Check-in is from 12 noon. Check-out is by 10.00am unless prior arrangements have been made. Guests arriving outside office hours need to call Reception to make arrangements for a late check -in. Guests can check in complimentary up to one hour early if rooms are available. Early check-ins over one hour are charged $25 per hour or part thereof. |

Getting There | The Mackellar Motel is 440 kms north-west of Sydney on the Kamilaroi Highway between Quirindi and Narrabri and provides the perfect stopover point for travellers to the north-west of the state. It is also 650 kilometres south-west of Brisbane on the Oxley Highway between Tamworth and Coonabarabran, and is another perfect stopover for travellers from Brisbane to the south-west of NSW and to Victoria and South Australia. The nearest airport is Tamworth Airport about 45 mins away. The local railway station is three blocks or a couple of minutes from the motel. Free transfers to and from the station are available |

Things To Do | Gunnedah is home to one of the largest and healthiest koala populations in the country. Drive up to Porcupine Reserve, take one of the many walking tracks and you are very likely to see koalas in the wild. Enjoy the views over Gunnedah and the rich Liverpool Plains while you are there. Gunnedah is also a bird lover’s paradise. Drop into the Visitors Information Centre and get directions for Poet’s Drive, a self-guided tour inspired by Gunnedah’s iconic landmarks and local heroes. The lyrical loos are a must-see. Drive to Pensioners Hill Reserve which offers panoramic views of Gunnedah and features a range of sculptures commemorating Gunnedah’s culture and history. Visit the Dorothea Mackellar memorial to see the tribute to our famous poet who was inspired by the Gunnedah landscape to write “My Country”. Take in the Gunnedah Rural Museum and the Water Tower Museum and discover the people places and events that shaped the Gunnedah community. Gunnedah is a great spot to base yourself to explore the region on relaxing day trips to the national parks of Mt Kaputar to the north, the famous Warrumbungles to the west, pristine Coolah Tops to the south and Lake Keepit to the east |
Business Facilities | The Conadilly Room offers state of the art conference facilities. We can accommodate up to 50 persons in a variety of configurations. Popular choices are a U shaped conference table seating up to 22 people or theatre style seating up to 50 people. For smaller groups, we have a boardroom which is suitable for up to 8 to 10 people. |
Terms and Conditions | A deposit of one night's accommodation may be required to confirm the booking. Children under three are complimentary unless they use a cot from the motel, which costs $25. Extra adults and children over two using existing beds, sofa beds or spare beds are charged $25 each. The Mackellar Motel welcomes pets but only small well trained animals are permitted. Furthermore, the pet has to be declared at the time of making the booking, otherwise the pet will not be admitted to the motel. The guest agrees to: • keep the pet in the room when in residence, • not leave the pet outside the room or locked in the guest’s car, • not leave the pet unattended in the room, • not allow the pet to make any excess noise which may disturb other guests, • keep dogs on a leash at all times when outside the room, • place dog waste in plastic bags and dispose of waste in wheelie bins round the motel, • not place waste outside the doors, • not allow the pet to damage any part of the motel, • bring your own pet bedding, and not allow the pet on beds and lounges, or to create any excess cleaning, and • maintain the room clean and odour free, with no excess pet hair. We take a $100 bond per pet on arrival which is fully refundable providing the above conditions are complied with. The bond will be repaid after departure by way of a credit card refund only. This decision is solely at the discretion of management. |
