Getting There | Jacaranda County Motel is located on Grey Street, which is on the road to Goondiwindi. There are bus services from Toowoomba daily and air service from Brisbane twice weekly. The motel is situated 500 metres from the Town Centre on Goondiwindi Road, two kilometres from the airport. From the north (Toowoomba, Roma) drive through the main street, turn left at Carnarvon Highway sign (55), then 400 metres on the right. |

Things To Do | Whilst in the area, visit the Beardmore Dam/Lake Kajarabie area, 21 kilometres north-east of St George where the birdlife and fish stocks are plentiful. Locals and visitors alike can enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing and water-skiing.A must visit is Queensland's most western winery, Riversands Winery, where the friendly staff will guide you through a tasting of medal winning red, white, sweet and dry wines. If in the area at Easter time take time out to enjoy the annual Easter in the Vines event when the good food, music and wine flow.Other attractions in the area include the Historic Museum and the illuminated Emu eggs, a private collection of handcarved emu eggs housed in the Balonne Sports Store or venture out to the local Aboriginal rock pools. St George is situated about 550 kilometres due west of Brisbane, and a great starting point for an outback adventure. It is some 200 kilometres north of the New South Wales border and six hours drive from Dubbo in central West New South Wales. It is on the Great Inland Way, the north/south adventure route from Melbourne to Cairns. |
