Things To Do | OUT AND ABOUT IN MILES While you're at Miles take the time to visit the Historical Village which is one of the finest in Australia. There are over 20 authentic original buildings of the 19th Century. A world class shell collection, lapidary display and a war museum are also part of the village which is open daily 8.00am to 5.00pm except Christmas day. Each year in early September Miles holds the 'Back to the Bush Festival' to celebrate its abundant displays of wildflowers. Nature lovers are treated to an incredible display of wildlife - amazing gorges only a few metres wide and tracts of wild flowers which bloom after spring rains. The Dogwood Crossing @ Miles is a place to relax and explore the local life stories, legends, the incredible feats, epic events, colourful tales and characters that make Murilla Shire the place it is today. Marvel at the amazing 7 metre tall steel bottle trees that form a stunning colonnade down the centre of the building. Uplit at night, these trees are truly magnificent. Inside the Dogwood Crossing @ Miles is a Library, Art Gallery, IT Centre and displays telling the story of Murilla Shire. View art and craft works by local artisans in the Art Gallery or use the computer database to explore the wealth of local talent. The Dogwood Crossing @ Miles also offers you the chance to make contact with your family and friends in our IT Centre. Use the public access computers for all your IT needs. The Dogwood Crossing @ Miles is part of the Queensland Heritage Trails Network, providing exciting tourism attractions which highlight the places, people, times and events that have shaped the Queensland of today and the future. The township of Condamine (Home of the Condamine Bell - a unique type of bell originally hung around the necks of bullocks to enable the cattle to be found in the bush) 33klm south of Miles is well worth the visit. Situated on the banks of the Condamine River it is famous for its Condamine Rodeo, a spectacular event attracting visitors from throughout Australia |
